Mum of six, Kate Ball initially started Mini First Aid in 2014 from her kitchen table in Leeds, offering high quality baby & child first aid classes to parents and carers. Demand grew and Kate saw the potential for growth, so she started franchising the business in 2015. In 2021, BBC Dragon’s Den star Sara Davies, also saw the huge potential in Mini First Aid and she came on board as an investor and adviser. Mini First Aid is now a multi-award-winning organisation and has almost 70 franchises nationwide.

Emily Illston

As an Ambulance First Responder with EMAS, Emily has extensive practical first aid experience and knowledge, and she also works part time in community stroke rehab. Over the years, Emily has come face to face with many situations where prompt first aid action has been critical in helping members of the public, and has seen first hand that these skills can really make a difference. Emily feels passionate about helping as many people as possible to feel more confident and empowered by learning these invaluable and potentially lifesaving skills. As a mum to two young children, she also really enjoys teaching early years and kids classes, and is a firm believer that children should be taught first aid skills from a young age too.

Felicity Haslewood

Hi, I’m Fliss. I have worked in the early years sector for 20 years and first aid has always been something I have had training on and understanding of. As a parent I became aware of how this knowledge was beneficial to me and that not all parents have that. I look forward to passing in my knowledge through Mini First Aid to others.

Judith Davidson

Hi, I’m Judith and am looking forward to spending my retirement as a trainer with Mini First Aid (as well as travelling the world!). I am passionate about everyone having the knowledge and confidence to manage common but potentially life-threatening situations, especially parents and families with young children. I have witnessed many difficult situations during my 37-year career as a Consultant Community Paediatrician and more recently as a Community First Responder (volunteer) with West Midlands Ambulance Service. I hope to share the excellent resources of Mini First Aid alongside my personal experiences, which also include my proudest achievement of my 2 adult sons who I’m pleased to say still speak to me and raid my fridge regularly!

Julia King

I have been working for East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust since 1996, the majority of that time has been as a State Registered Paramedic. This has given me a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of emergency medical care. In 2004 I gained my teaching qualification allowing me to pursue a career in teaching and training. I feel passionate about passing on my knowledge and training so that others can gain the skills required to render assistance to an injured or ill person.

Lizzy Williams

Hi! I’m Lizzy and I’m delighted to be joining this fabulous team at MFA Warwickshire, Coventry and Tamworth. I am a mum to two teenage boys and a qualified Early Years and Primary School Teacher. I currently work in two maintained nursery schools in Warwickshire. I recently also trained as a baby massage instructor and run weekly classes which I thoroughly enjoy! Last year, I went on a Paediatric First Aid refresher course and loved it! It made me realise how vital it is to be educated and confident in dealing with first aid, whether it be as an adult or a child. I am very excited about teaching and equipping children with life skills to become mini first aiders themselves, and believe it's a fantastic life skill to have from an early age. I am very much looking forward to being back in the classroom sharing my knowledge and inspiring you all to become confident First Aiders!
